Bluedotted ribbontail ray (Teanuira lymma) - not to confuse with the Bluedotted stingray (Neotrygon kuhlii).This species is reef associated and bottom dwelling. While timid and innocuous towards humans it is capable on inflicting excruciating wounds with its venomous tail spines. Its attractive appearance and relatively small size has reunited in its being the most common stingray found in the home aquarium trade. The Internationsl Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) has assessed the Bluedotted ribbontail ray as 'near threatened' as it faces widespread habitat degradation and intensive fishery pressure
