Upon first arriving in South Korea it is intimidating to locate, find transportation to and dive at a dive shop. First of all there is a definite language barrier, and secondly the setup of dive shops, centers, distributors is quite a bit different than in other countries. 38th Parallel Divers tries to help everyone by getting them in contact with other english speaking divers. The 38th Parallel Dives was founded in early 2012 in an attempt to find others in Korea that loved diving. Members range from new Open Water students to Tecnical Divers to Rebreather divers. Because of their braod range of skills the club can really provide valuable assistance in shop locations, best sites, conditions, gear and servicing. This is extremely important for Tec and rebreather divers because finding helium or sorb is difficult unless you know where to look.
Looking to do something truly unique, that VERY FEW divers can say they have done? The 38th Parallel Divers provide a neat certificate for everyone that dives with any of their existing club members at or above the 38th Parallel.
The club also offers AT COST PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy and Project AWARE Specialties (for a limited time). Since they are not a business will also be offering other certifications at cost as well; after all their main objective is to spread diving throughout the Korean peninsula. Check out their Facebook/YouTube pages "38thParallelDivers".
Soon they will be diving on some massive underwater steel domes that start at a depth of 39M and go down to 62M.
