CURRENT PROJECT
Jason deCaires Taylor in partnership with The Cabildo of Lanzarote, is building the first underwater contemporary art museum in the Atlantic Ocean. Situated in clear blue waters off the coast of Lanzarote, Spain. The unique, permanent installation will be constructed at around 12m deep and accessible to both snorkelers, divers and observers through glass bottom boats.
The project drawing on the dialogue between art and nature is designed on a conservational level to create a large scale artificial reef to aggregate local fish species and increase marine biomass whilst, on the other hand, to question the commodification and delineation of the world´s natural resources and land masses and raise awareness to current threats facing the worlds oceans.
