About Us
The Sports & Activities Centre forms part of Cape Weligama Resort, the latest addition to Sri Lanka’s famous Replendent Ceylon chain and the Diving & Sailing Pvt. Ltd. chain of centres that began as a diving safari company based in the Maldives. Diving & Sailing Pvt. Ltd. has over 25 years of experience in the hospitality and diving industry. The company’s mission is simple: always strive for excellence and nothing less.
The Beach club is fully equipped and professionally staffed to ensure we take full advantage of all Weligama’s diverse facets.
Weligama is the heartland of whale country and boasts a resident pod of Blue whales, the
largest animal to ever live. This is one of many marine mammals that call this part of Sri Lanka’s coastline home. Brydes whales can be frequently spotted, along with Killer whales and super pods of dolphins. The Beach Club organises whale-watching excursions from November until the end of April, when conditions are at their best for spotting these amazing animals.
Diving is another one of our specialty and the dive sites in front of our doorstep, do not fail to disappoint. Diving season typically runs from November till April and getting to our dive sites is merely a hop, skip and jump away from the Beach Club. Dive sites include Weligama’s famous Yala Rocks, a series of massive boulders with beautiful swim throughs this entire area is teaming with life. A must see dive point in Weligama. Other dive sites include Prince Heinrich’s Patch and the shipwrecks of Galle, which every diving enthusiast should experience. Shipwrecks in Galle date back as far as the 1800’s and take a mere 45 minutes to reach with our specially designed boat.
The aim of Cape Weligama Beach Sports & Activites Centre is to offer a wide range of activities, without compromising quality, that provide guests with the best possible outdoor experiences South Sri Lanka has to offer; A relaxing bike ride through stunning paddy fields, a snorkeling experience in tropical waters, or carving the famous waves of Sri Lanka with our surf boards, Cape Weligama Beach Club will be sure to give you experiences that will last a lifetime.
