The Similan Islands Are OPEN

Yes at last the similan islands are open again for scuba diving and snorkelling. The first boats are departing this afternoon (14th october) so they can be there in place for the early morning dive on the 15th. The Similan island national park has been closed since the last boat returned on the 17th of May. As many scuba divers know the similans are the pinnacle of scuba diving locations.

These amazing islands make a chain of small isolated pin pricks of perfection out in the Andaman ocean. Think of the Similan Thailand and you will get some of the best diving on earth. From the stunning coral reefs on the islands themselves to the soaring pinnacles of Koh Tachai and Richelieu Rock with the Manta Ray and Whale Shark cruising lazily overhead. This really is a scuba divers paradise on earth.

As you can guess these are by far the best islands in Thailand for both scuba diving and for snorkelling too. Warm shallow reefs teeming with life. Just do not forget to bring your camera. The best way to experience the Similan islands is on a similan islands liveaboard. These are plentiful both in numbers and in length of trip. From a quick over night to two weeks. There is no upper limit to the amount of time you can spend here.

The quality of the boats does vary on price from super delux to standard. But even the cheapest boats are very comfortable with air con cabins and great food with as much as you can eat. The one thing that is certain you will not loose weight on board.

Thailand liveabaords are some of the best in the world and they are so easy to access. Any good phuket dive shop will have a good selection of trips on offer and like Thailand divers the staff are available almost 24 hours a day via live chat option on the website to answer any questions that you may have.

There are many Phuket islands with in easy reach of the main island of phuket Thailand but the ones that should not be missed are the similan islands and the surin islands. Open for only six months each year and offering the best diving on the planet then you do need to book in advance to be safe of getting the dates you wish. But one thing is for sure it will be the best diving trip you will do for a very long time.
