The Great Diving and NON Diving Tours Of Phuket Thailand

What with all the trouble in the Middle East and all the people who normally dive in the Red Sea now having to look elsewhere to dive. Many are looking to the warm waters of Phuket Thailand to get their diving fix but there are so many choices for those that never travel out of the Red Sea. So many phuket dive centers to choose from. There are so many places to dive, so many dive sites. Where do they choose?? I am not going to say this is best or thats the best as everyone is different and everyone wants something different out of their trip . The beat thing is to listen to other people and what they say. The common consensus is the best islands in Thailand are the Similan islands.

The Amazing Dive Sites Of Phuket Thailand Part 3. Koh Doc Mai

A good variety of small creatures make this site a favourite for Phuket dive shops. Tigertail seahorses, ornate ghost pipefish and anglerfish are among the species frequently found along the walls. Go slowly and check crevices in the wall or the sea fans and you may spot them when they move. The walls are also a paradise for macro photographers, as colourful nudibranch, flatworms, tiny white eyed morays and groups of 10 or more dancing shrimp are guaranteed to make an appearance.

A Quick Guide To Some Of The Fish You Will See Diving In Phuket Thailand and The Similan Islands II

Marine angelfish are perciform fish of the family Pomacanthidae. They are found on shallow reefs in the tropical Atlantic, Indian, and mostly western Pacific oceans. The family contains seven genera and approximately 86 species. They should not be confused with the freshwater angelfish, tropical cichlids of the Amazon River basin. With their vibrant colours and deep, laterally compressed bodies, marine angelfishes are some of the more conspicuous residents of the reef. They most closely resemble the butterflyfishes, a related family of similarly showy reef fish.

A Quick Guide To Some Of The Fish You Will See Diving In Phuket Thailand and The Similan Islands

Anglerfish are bony fish in the order Lophiiformes, named for their characteristic mode of predation, wherein a fleshy growth from the fish's head (the esca) acts as a lure; this is considered analogous to angling. Anglerfish are both pelagic and benthic fishes of the abyss (e.g. Ceratiidae) and the continental shelf (e.g. the frogfishes Antennariidae and the monkfish/goosefish Lophiidae) respectively. They occur worldwide. Pelagic forms are most laterally compressed whereas the benthic forms are often extremely dorsoventrally compressed (depressed) often with large upward pointing mouths.
