Advice for diving Shane’s Reef in Tanzania
Shanes Reef is the most diverse dive site Zanzibar has to offer. A really fantastic dive site! You will see all the stuff that you have heard others only talking about. Leaffish, Frogfish, Sea Horses, Ghost Pipe fish and much more weired stuff.
The best time of the year to dive northern Zanzibar is between mid October till mid December. If you time the dives right, and most dive centers there know how to time the dives, you will have 50 meters visibility on every dive. Also a good time is between March and May. The worst time of the year due to monsoon winds, strong currents and big waves is from mid december till end of January and from mid June to mid September.
