Welcome to the home of Scuba Steve, a website dedicated to provide information on the products and services offered by Steve Traynor.
BioSteve joined the Royal New Zealand Navy when he was just 16 years old. He has spent most of his life on, in or around the water — hence his nickname, Scuba Steve.
A PADI Master Instructor in recreational diving, Steve is also a technical deep diving and gas blending instructor, an ADAS Level 3 construction diver, commercial skipper, a first aid and oxygen provider instructor, a recompression chamber operator, and he holds an Advanced Trade Certificate achieved while working for NZ's largest marine outfitter.
Since 2002 he has owned a dive business in the stunning alpine village of Wanaka in New Zealand’s South Island, where he still occasionally works as a qualified service technician for nearly all brands of dive equipment.
Steve regularly leads diving expeditions throughout the South Pacific, and he is comfortable diving under ice, on a coral reef, deep wreck or installing an underwater pipeline in zero visibility.
An avid outdoorsman, Steve also guides hunting, fishing and camping trips to remote locations. He has published adventure articles and contributed to several blockbuster movies, television shows and commercials filmed in New Zealand.
