About Us

Scuba Guys’ Dive Shop has been an idea that has evolved originally from two long time associates and divers, these two people recognized the need for a quality full service dive shop in Moose Jaw after belonging to the diving community for many years.

Curtis Temple an Instructor Trainer Evaluator for ACUC International had been involved as a Scuba Instructor in Moose Jaw for 10 years and had taught hundreds divers in the Moose Jaw area and is a technical expert in the diving arena prior to starting up Scuba Guys' Dive Shop. Doug Smith was a certified DIVEMASTER for over 10 years and had a background in the retail market for many years.

The two joined with Gregg Bathgate, another SCUBA INSTRUCTOR trained by Curtis, and close friend with years diving experience and of retail experience as well.

In the late summer of 1999 the three got together and decided to open a retail outlet to supply Moose Jaw and area with the best and highest quality, fully serviced dive shop possible. This would include teaching of scuba from Open Water Diver to Certifying new Scuba Instructors, retail sales and rental of scuba equipment and accessories, repairs and doing some commercial diving and eventually moving into travel.

Scuba Guys' Dive Shop got it’s name while Gregg & Curt were teaching an introductory scuba session for a group of Girls Guides who could not remember our names but made us a wonderful Thank You card out to “The Scuba GUYS” – it stuck.

As with many business arrangements after a short period of time things changed and Doug left Scuba Guys’ Dive Shop and Curtis and Gregg continued to operate the growing and successful business at 235 High St W. in Moose Jaw.

After a few years of renting space the building became available and Scuba Guys' Dive Shop purchased the location and had a permanent home.

The business is strong and doing well and we are very proud and pleased to be able to serve the diving community.  We are a proud member of the Moose Jaw & District Chamber of Commerce.
