Few Things Every First Timer Must Do in Glasgow

Glasgow, one of the liveliest cities in the UK, takes pride for being recognised as Scotland’s largest city. Coming across as a blend of sophistication and crudity, this spectacular Scottish city continues to attract tourists for comparing cheap flight tickets to Glasgow. If truth be told, this city has constantly evolved over the last couple of decades to become one of the most interesting metropolitan cities in the UK. So much can be enjoyed in Scotland’s biggest city that you’re bound to have a perfect city break you’ve been longing for.

Reaching the city of Glasgow is easy as well as quick and does not burn a hole in one’s pocket. It’d make you feel a different world away from England. Renowned for its culture, style and the warm nature of its residents, Glasgow is the city that can never be ignored for its other European cousins.

Though there were top names in the industry I contacted hoping to bag the best deal on Glasgow flights but in vain. I got the best deal on tickets to Glasgow on one of the leading travel comparison search engines: compareandfly.com.

There are so many things that would keep every first timer busy throughout their tour. They in fact entertained me at every step of the way regardless of the number of visit. I’ll share with you some of the things you should do (of course being a first timer).

1. Admire the Georgian Elegance

Glasgow, once used to be the “Second City of the Empire” and the majority of great ships in the world were built on the River Clyde. This is because that the money kept flowing from all around the world. Take into those glory days that once existed on central George Square before you begin admiring the fancily decorated architecture as you go on exploring the bordering Merchant City.

2. Grab a Pint

Glaswegians are well-known for enjoying their drink or two. This Scottish city has long been boasting its finest places for allowing local and foreign tourists enjoy a pint of lager. Those with an interest in the popular smooth Scottish ale can have a great time making the most of every sip taken. The Horseshoe Bar located in the city centre is an interesting place to enjoy your first pint. However, if you truly want to enjoy the bar scene, don’t forget to visit West on the Corner. Choose from a wide range of superb beers and wonderful food.

3. Catch a Football Match

Football plays an essential role to the culture and soul of Glasgow. You’d have to try hard to bag a ticket for a game between Glasgow Rangers and Celtic. Know that any match at either of their stadiums is a memorable experience in its own. And the Scottish national football team play at Hampden Stadium in the city.

4. Soak in Rich Culture

If arts is your thing, you’d be glad to know that Glasgow is a city of best museums and art galleries. Do visit the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and the huge Burrell Collection.

Located in the heart of Glasgow, GoMA (Gallery of Modern Art) is the main gallery of contemporary art in the city. In fact, it’s the most visited modern art gallery in Scotland that seems to be a unique place using contemporary art to encourage an exchange of useful ideas about life and human experiences.

Glasgow is the city that I have always been charmed by and its offerings literally spoiled me for choice. So, prepare yourself to shop around and pamper yourself like no other city ever does. A flight to Glasgow from London will deliver you to the city in just an hour.

Glasgow is an incredible Victorian city that’s always loaded with something or the other allowing visitors whether doing their first or fifth time to make the most out of their city break the way they want. Blessed with a cosmopolitan heart, the visitors get to enjoy the best of everything whether it’s about arts, museums, music, dining or music.
