Edinburgh is one of my favourite cities in the world and I have no second thoughts about it. Located right in the heart of Scotland, the capital of the country comes across as a fine blend of ancient and contemporary, which makes Edinburgh one of Europe’s most visited destinations for a perfect weekend getaway.

I was head over heels after the I touched down on the Scottish soil a few months ago. Are you an art lover? Then prepare yourself to spoil for choice as there are some outstanding art galleries and museums. Make sure you visit the Scottish National Portrait Gallery, the Museum of Childhood and the National Gallery of Scotland.

Take a bus tour if you aren’t into dealing with the hilly streets. However, the ones with bagpipes of energy will walk up Calton Hill and enjoy the stunning sunset over Edinburgh.
