Best Things to Do in Madrid

A flight to Madrid will take you to one of most sought after tourist destinations not only in the UK but all around the world. Madrid, the capital city of Spain, carries a special message that it’s been passing over to every visitor, and it shall continue to do so as long as it’s existing. No city on Earth comes more alive than the fascinating Spanish capital.

Best known for its incredible cultural and artistic heritage, this incredible Spanish town continues to tempt tourists to compare cheap flights to Madrid for a short weekend break or long holiday. Whether you have a weekend, or a few days (of course more than two), you’re bound to have a great time in Madrid when it’ll pour its best on you.

The architecture in Madrid cannot be compared in mere words. Even I was at a loss for words when I tried coming up with a few adjectives. I had to give in to the beautiful architecture. The city of Madrid may lack the prestige of Paris, the interesting monumental history of Rome, or Barcelona’s reputation for high-style masterpieces, but it has its great historical and cultural heritage that too in loads.

Madrid has long been living up to its reputation for being of the most admired destinations for a perfect weekend break, and being immensely popular, there’s a possibility that cheap flight tickets to Madrid as offered by some of the top travel comparison search engines are booked ahead of time. I had to grab the last minute deal and it saved me pounds. Thanks to compareandfly.com, a leading search engine that let travelers grab the best deals on Madrid flights.

Well, there’s so much you can do while on your Spanish tour but some of the best things are.

1.Wake up with breakfast on a Terrace

It’s true that Madrid comes to life at a slow pace. With the crack of dawn, men dressed up in old-fashioned suits and heavy bundles of newspapers gather to talk about politics and business. Hit the spot with a strong cafe con leche (coffee with milk) and a glass of orange juice.

What to eat in breakfast

Like to try a croissant with ham and cheese and grilled a la plancha? It’ll excite your taste buds. Have more of a sweet tooth? Then indulge in chocolate con churros (sticks of sugary-donut-goodness dipped in melted chocolate).

2. Admire the great views from the roof-top terrace of Circulo de Bellas Artes

I discovered some roof-top terraces in this amazing city, but I must say that the most tempting views was of the Circulo de Bellas Artes. Resting on the top of one of the most significant art institutions in Europe - where prominent names like Picasso was a student - the views over Madrid will take your breath away being incomparable.

3. Enjoy a coffee at Plaza de Oriente, with views over the palace

One of the my most admired places in Madrid was the posh area of Plaza de Oriente. Surrounded by a terracota buildings and stunning gardens, it’s one of the most awesome places in the world to enjoy coffee.

4. Laze around in the sun at El Retiro Park

El Parque de Buen Retiro used to be the playground of the Spanish Royal Family. It’s an ideal place to relax and soak up the Spanish sun. Don’t forget the Crystal Palace, one of Madrid’s most stunning buildings, which is a huge greenhouse built from steel and glass.

These are some of the best things to do in Madrid but that’s not all. The Spanish capital has wealth of attractions that would keep you busy and entertained throughout your tour.
