As mainly naturalists rather than obsessive wreck divers, we really enjoyed this week. The selection of dive sites gave us access to a broad selection of what the Red Sea has to offer, and Kate got many good photos to add to her collection.
The crew were all extremely helpful and polite. I find having someone helping you into and out of your gear - especially fins - to be a great luxury! :-) As a lesbian couple we have been made to feel slightl uncomfortale on a previous Red Sea live aboard but not this time. The dive masters were highly knowledgeable about the region and the local wildlife, and were excellent at finding interesting fauna.
The captain and crew made a real effort to maximise our number of dives, including night dives (which we appreciated), despite some difficult sea condtions hampering or ability to stick to the originally planed route.
The boat herself was a little rough around the edges (ie. could use a little love; mostly cosmetic eg. decking very weathered in places, slightly strained air conditioning, etc), but fundamentaly everything worked and she was very comfortable. We had the pleasure of staying in the master suite which was delightfully comfy, if furnished with somewhat impractical storage.
Finally, the food. I (Kate) am a /very/ fussy eater, but despite this I found something to my liking at every meal time. The buffets were very generous so no danger of going hungry! I was the sole person to become ill in the trip and the specially made me soul and plain food.
Overall we consider this trip to have been really good value for money. Yes, some polish was missing (literally ;) ), but the important bits are all there.
