Come join ScubaTech and dive the beautiful waters of the Emerald Coast. The most popular SCUBA diving begins just a few miles from the Destin East Pass. Unlike anywhere in the Panhandle of Florida, Destin is unique in that the limestone outcroppings begin just a few miles off the beach, and are covered with soft corals, sponges, game fish, and an abundance of tropical fish. These ledges are also home to shovel-nose and spiny lobsters. The reefs range from 2-8 feet in height at a depth of 82-95 feet. The observant SCUBA diver will also notice many types of shells and the photographer will be surprised at the magnificent macro photography and underwater scenery. The wreck diving is also excellent in this area, ranging in depths of 57-100 feet. Destin is home to four Barges, two Liberty Ships, LCM landing crafts, Tugboats, the old Destin Bridge, and much more! Grouper, cobia, snapper, flounder, and amberjack are some of the most common fish found on the reefs and wrecks. We offer many types of classes on SCUBA diving to include Open Water and Advanced Open Water classes, just to name a few. If you’re not sure you’re ready to dive in and want to get your feet wet first, we also offer Discover SCUBA as well as snorkeling by the Destin Jetties. Discover SCUBA gives you the opportunity to try a dive before committing to a full open water class. No experience necessary and it is a lot of fun! We usually dive March through late November, with water temperatures ranging from the mid 60’s in early spring to the low 80’s in the summer. Winter temperatures can get down to the low 50’s, making it a great time for maintenance, repairs, and Caribbean travel trips. The visibility ranges from as low as 10-100 feet, with the average visibility in the summer and fall being approximately 40 feet. Goliath Grouper and large Southern Stingrays are commonly seen and if you are lucky we have been blessed with Whale Sharks, Manta Rays, and once a Humped Back Whale. One never knows what mysteries the Gulf of Mexico has in store for the divers to see. So, don't waste another minute, come get certified with ScubaTech today!
