Diving Sites around Hvar

If you are a passionate diver, then you must know that feeling (or should I better say craving) that comes once in a while. Are you experiencing thirst of diving in new locations or different spots? Croatia is the best place to quench this thirst. The country boasts this by having the biggest share of the eastern Atlantic coast which has served to delight many divers over the years.

The sea temperatures are ideal for diving as they range from 7 degree Celsius during the winter to 24 degree Celsius in the summer. The temperatures may not be uniform in all the islands due to fresh water springs joining the sea from different points. Average visibility of the dive may be 10 to 15 meters at 33-50 feet; this also depends on the sites.

Croatia has a whopping total of 66 inhabited islands which contain the best diving sites, Hvar is one of these islands, and it is located just off the coast of Croatia. You can identify it through its gently rolling hills coated with purple flowers and bursting vineyards at the foot of the uneven mountains. It also has a gorgeous beach which has tiny inlets.

The Parkleni islands are located off the coast of Hvar on the south west side. Pakleni is normally translated as hell’s islands this is in contrast to the feeling you get of being in paradise when you visit. The Parkleni islands consist of 16 islands with Sveti Klement and Marinkovac being the two major islands. The chain of Pakleni Island is approximately 10 kilometers long with the highest point at the islands being 94 meters.

The life under the sea of the island will make your diving experience unforgettable. The rich flora and fauna, remains of shipwrecks plus numerous underwater are just too wonderful to let the opportunity pass by.

In Pakleni diving sites, you will enjoy seeing green and brown algae at 6 meters, a 50 m dive will treat you with a breath taking sight straight from a fairy tale story. The reef is full of red algae, yellow coral reefs and sponges that are multicolored. The waters also boast of plenty of fish species each having unique colors that blend with the environment.

There are fine choices of accommodation in the islands which range from self-catering apartments to villas complete with a swimming pool. 3 to 5 star hotels are also available. If you really are the adventurous type then secure camping sites are available in the islands. English german and Italian are spoken in the island so there is no fear of having language barriers. The peak season is between August to October and to visit the island you can contact a local charter in Croatia or take the local ferry. Transportation on the island itself is available where you can opt for taxis or you can hire a car at a small fee.

So get your diving gear and visit pakleni islands for a great diving experience. if you are a beginner in diving and you are worried of what next, have no worries any more for they offer diving classes in the islands to ensure you have unforgettable moments with family and friends
