Advice for diving Black Rock Canyon, Guanaja in Honduras

Just dove Black Rock and the Labyrinth sites on the north side of Guanaja. One of the most unusual and fascinating sites. Not much in the way of unusual fish and coral but the caves, caverns, swim throughs and deep canyons are reminiscent of walking through the ruins of an ancient city.The steep sided narrow pathways along the bottom are truly impressive.The Island of Guanaja is the remnants of an ancient volcano and the black rock is ancient outcroppings of lava that has settled, eroded and caved forming the unique and interesting architecture. To do the Labyrinth on the inside requires a guide to know the way through. We used George of G&G Clearwater Paradise Resort in Mangrove Bight. Excellent snorkeling and reef diving as well. Weather and sea state need to be calm or getting to the site could be a struggle. Getting to Guanaja is also not easy making it the least visited of the 3 major islands ib the BI. The lack of tourists has left the reef in pristine condition without lots of broken coral as in most popular dive sites.
