Georgia's Amicalola Falls?

Among the highest of the East Coast's drift hunters cascading waterfalls? Sure thing. Mark Jaronski, the deputy commissioner of Explore Georgia, explains, "It's also the beginning of the eight-mile Approach Trail for the southern terminus of the world-famous Appalachian Trail, which calls Georgia's Chattahoochee National Forest home." The lush, volcanic island of Kauai is famous for its tropical rain forest. The island is home to the iconic Manawaiopuna Falls, which made a brief appearance in the 1993 film Jurassic Park.

Since the waterfall is on private property, the only way to see it is by taking a helicopter tour, which may be the greatest way to see it since some tours bring you near enough to the falls that you are drenched by the spray. Thousand Springs State Park in southern Idaho has a fantastical appearance. Stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking are popular activities in the Snake River Canyon, where spring water rises up from the canyon walls and flows into the channel below. The finest waterfall in Illinois is not a single drop but rather the whole set of waterfalls found in Starved Rock State Park. The 18 canyons in this area were carved out by floods caused by melting glaciers. Four of the canyons have waterfalls, especially after heavy rains or in the spring.

Wildcat Canyon's waterfall is beautiful all year and is 25 feet tall, Tonti Canyon has two waterfalls that are 60 feet tall, St. Louis Canyon has one of the tallest falls in the park, and LaSalle Canyon has a 25-foot veil. In 1952, Indiana constructed Cagles Mill Lake as the state's first flood control reservoir. The biggest waterfall in the state is situated on Mill Creek, one of the main tributaries that flows into Lake Superior. All of these areas are now a part of the Lieber and Cataract Falls State Recreation Area, a popular place for families to go camping and hiking. The nicest feature about this rocky waterfall, which is 200 feet tall and is flanked by limestone cliffs, is its proximity to Decorah, the starting point for several watersports on the Upper Iowa River. Bonus: Siewers Springs in Decorah and Malanaphy Springs in Bluffton (a two-mile round-trip trek) are both in the area and have waterfalls. The temporary and tranquil beauty of Geary Lake Falls may be seen in a secluded spot close to Junction City, Kansas.

There have been cases of this stunning 35-foot waterfall drying up in warm weather and becoming a cascade of water after a rainstorm. Think like a local: According to Maggy Monhollen, executive director of the Corbin Tourism and Convention Commission, "the greatest and biggest waterfall in the state of Kentucky is none other than... Cumberland Falls, the 'Niagara of the South. "The'moonbow' is a natural phenomenon caused by this 125-foot-wide, 60-foot-high waterfall. From the mist of the falls, a lunar rainbow appears on the night of the full moon when the sky is clear. The only spot on Earth where you may see this natural treasure is at Cumberland Falls.
