OUR SAILING DIVE LIVEABOAT

We are  doing  a „real sailing“ diving cruise on our wood yacht MSY OKYANUS JD by offering one week or more weeks tours in the beautiful nature in Turkey. We say real diving cruise since we go into water direct from the boat accommodated and all the dive equipment is stored on the same boat. Our air compressor was placed under the front deck and the noise was minimized.

Our professionally trained boat crew is always around to help you before you go in to water and after the dives. In case of an emergency we do have a first aid kits for dive accidents and minor injuries and AED equipment on board. The next decompression chamber for treatment in case of diving accidents –also recreational diving accidents – is located close to Marmaris. The chamber is operated by the Turkish marine and meets all modern standards. It takes 1 to 2 hours by speedboat or by car to reach to chamber.

We kindly request you to fill our Tour Registration Form which require infromation about you and to send us. This form has been prepared to serve you better by getting necessary information from you.

DIVING

We have been using 12 l aluminium tanks with air filled 200 bar during our dives. We fill up tanks without dismantling BC. Divers just place the equipment to filling station and enjoy hot drinks served on the dining table in the back. All equipment should have octopus and usage of dive computer is mandatory. When needed each equipment  can be rented on board (for further information please refer to the (Equipment rental price list). Please inform us your equipment need in advance to avoid any equipment shortages.

Weights (of 1 or 2 kilos) as well as belts are sufficiently available on board. Your entire equipment will always be on board and stored in perforated plastic box (60x40x40 cm).

Daily Schedule is just to give you some idea.  We can take you to land with our dinghy to visit shore or for trecking in the beautiful nature.  We are flexible in our schedule. We offer early morning dives and night dives during our tours.

UNDERWATER AND UNDERWATER CREATURES

Generally speaking who compares the diving sites in Turkey permanently with those famous dive spots in the red sea may close ones eyes to beautiful nature surrounding and specific characteristics of the eastern Mediterranean Sea. We are diving always close enough to land to see beautiful nature. Your eyes will be caught by the wonderful topography above the surface and under the water. At many places the above formation continues below the surface.  We invite you to discover the wonderful underwater world with cavities, grottos, steep faces and cliffy drop-offs with very good underwater visibility, with us.

During your dives, you will not always surrounded by school of fishes but depending on time and   currents you may come across with the sea robbers like mackerels, barracudas or tunas alone or in big schools. Rays, mediterranean morays, tiger morays, kind of octopus, different types of groupers, swordfish and turtles could often be watched during our dives. It is observed in 2014 that we have seen more turtles than past years. The amount of turtles increasing is making our dive spots more interesting.  Sea dwellers like lobster, marine lobster, spider crabs and smaller shrimps and hermit crabs can often be admired in their natural environment. Since octopus lays eggs during our season it is a good chance for photographers and divers to observe the octopus in the nest. Also other representatives of cephalopods (like e.g. cuttlefish) are not rare. For “Macrofriends” and –photographers the variety of house slugs and gorgeous nudibranchs offers an eldorado of photomotifs. Apart from that a lot of colourful fungi are a delight for your eyes.  Real bath sponge can be seen during our dives too.

The water temperature at the spots averages in May and June between 18 and 21 °C, in July and August between 22 and 26 °C and in September/October approx. 23 and 27 °C. For convenient dives we therefore recommend you from May to July and in October a semi-dry suit of 5 to 6.5 mm. In August and September a wet suit or shorty of 3 to 5 mm is quiet sufficient. In May and June neoprene gloves ensure well tempered fingers. In the rest of the season from July to October gloves are not necessary. Full fins with robust booties afford secure hold and protection. The simple flippers are good in August and September for snorkelling. The underwater visibility reachs sometimes more than 50 meters.

WRACKS

Sometimes you will feel like diving in an aquarium. An aquarium which has witnessed to the history for centuries. Turkish costs have hosted many ships which some of them became victim because of storms or lacking of the seafaring skills. When we remember that the region is then an important center of piracy, it is sure the wonderful bays we overnight were used by the pirates to hide their ships. Whatever the reason was for sunken ships the nature surrounding us have a lot of thrilling stories to tell us. The entire coast is reseeded with ancient ship wrecks, from which today we can only admire the remains of cargo and goods. The countless amphorae from different eras of the maritime trade leave strong impressions to us. We kindly advise you to visit Bodrum Underwater Museum to see the recovered tiles after excavations made by underwater archaeologists.

We kindly remind you that touching or even removing them is strictly forbidden. This is what we better entrust to the experts, who can recover the artifacts securely and will conserve them professionally for posterity.
