  Derek (underwaterfrontiers) Derek is a PADI Course Director, Tec Sidemount Instructor Trainer, Self-Reliant Diver Instructor Trainer, Tec Trimix Instructor Trainer, and DAN Instructor Trainer. In addition, Derek can teach more than 30 specialties and has issued more than 600 certifications. Believing that diving has therapeutic potential for those with psychological and physical conditions—and that it should be accessible to as many of us as possible—Derek is also a Handicapped Scuba Association Instructor (HSA). Derek was certified at age 12 while on a family trip to Hawaii. He fell in love with diving then, and has been diving locally and around the world ever since. In addition to diving, Derek has been delivering First Aid and CPR education for more than 14 years, previously instructing EMT classes and working in pre-hospital critical care.
